Literacy Specialist (K-12)

Our Literacy Specialists deliver professional learning experiences and workshops that assist districts, schools, and teachers in planning for and implementing high-quality literacy solutions aligned to goals and State standards.  The Literacy Specialists are expected to work virtually and on- site with teachers and administrators. 

Job Description

Vantage Literacy Specialists deliver training and services that assist districts, schools, and teachers in planning for and implementing high-quality literacy solutions aligned to district goals and strategic initiatives. These services include, but not limited to: anytime phone support, onsite and virtual monthly data reviews, curriculum alignment, setup and support of benchmarking program, interpreting reports and identifying strategies for differentiated learning.

We are looking for people who enjoy connecting with educators and student learners and care about impacting education; who can travel, handle multiple projects/schools and are team players.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge and experience in evidence-based literacy teaching and learning.
  • Partner with key clients to design and customize implementation plans and timelines by conducting a needs analysis, determining program goals and timelines, and scheduling long-term professional learning plans.
  • Review district/school improvement plans, state test scores and key initiatives; provide state of literacy in the district to stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with district/schools through clearly documented communication plans (i.e. lunch and learns, monthly data reviews, webinars, attending targeted literacy events in the state/district).
  • Become experts in our writing solutions that include: WriteVue, MY Access!, CiteSmart, benchmark assessments, state prep assessments and professional development courses
  • Facilitate virtual and on-site professional learning sessions for teachers and administrators.
  • Provide coaching support to individual and small groups of teachers by modeling, co-teaching.
  • Troubleshoot professional learning needs and requests.
  • Proactively schedule data review sessions with school and district leadership to assess implementation quality, provide suggestions to resolve challenges, support differentiated instruction, develop action plans, deepen relationships and, therefore, drive sales opportunities and on-going renewals.
  • Collaborate with Vantage leadership and product management to ensure that key accounts are involved in roadmap decisions, including insights into new design features.
  • Renew and expand the business; Vantage Learning products (WriteVue, MY Access, Ruby, etc) and literacy services (curriculum alignment, data analysis, benchmarking, state test practice, coaching, etc).



 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Master’s Degree of Education (ELA, Curriculum and Instruction, Administration).

3 + years’ experience delivering professional development for teachers; coaching experience.

Strong understanding of Common Core, ESSA, etc.

5+ years of effective ELA teaching experience including curriculum development and implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies.

Excellent written, speaking and presentation skills.

Expertise in analyzing data to inform instruction; identifying strategies to support differentiated learning.

Demonstrated ability to model lessons and coach teachers as they practice with the strategies that were demonstrated.

Demonstrated ability to receive feedback and adapt practice based upon the feedback.

Travel required.
